Science Fact

Mars is the next Brooklyn. Why? When a group of students tried growing veggies in Martian conditions, they successfully grew kale, sweet potatoes, carrots, onions, dandelions and hops. They grew the plants in a greenhouse with soil meant to simulate the soil of Mars, heavy in iron, and with no organic matter (broken down plants and stuff). Mars also has only 44{9f43b4361d9a125bc126dd2a2d1949be02545ec69880430bc4fed2272fd72da3} of the light we do, so the mimicked that, too. Turns out, the kale’s got this covered! Sorry, fans of The Martian, russet potatoes didn’t grow without extra help. But for hipsters who want to feast on kale chips and homebrew? Mars has got you covered.
