I’m here in DC and ready to get the WILD RUMPUS STARTED.
I know I’ve been letting you all know I’m blogging Experimental Biology (EB 2011, #eb2011 for those following along on Twitter), but probably some of you don’t know what that is. It’s a BIG conference of about 13,000 scientists from around the world (ok, not as big as SfN which draws I think up to 30,000), to talk about…experimental biology, what’s next in the world of medicine and biology and how we do our science. It’s made up of six major societies of scientists: The American Society of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (ASPET), the American Association of Anatomists (AAA), the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB), the American Physiological Society (APS), the American Society for Investigative Pathology (ASIP), and the American Society for Nutrition (ASN).
What does that mean? It means a LOT of science, is what it means. And it means a lot of stuff that’s outside of Sci’s normal playbook. I’m super excited, and I’ve got some cool stuff coming at you on things like alcohol, obesity, diet, exercise, heart attacks, hormones, and…classical literature. Just to mix it up. 🙂 So keep an eye on the blog! I’m going to try and work up 1-3 posts per day on what I’m seeing, and if I’m WAY to exhausted, I’ll just keep blogging when the meeting is done! There won’t be so much live tweeting, but I’ll have posts comin’ at ya on the latest and coolest.
PRO TIP: To those who haven’t left for EB yet, bring a good coat! Lot colder here than I’d thought!
And if you see Sci at the meeting, do her a favor and buy her a coffee. She’ll probably need it!!
